University of Nebraska “Pop-up” Course

I was proud to launch the Yeutter Institute’s first one-credit course, offering undergraduate students from diverse majors an opportunity to learn about international trade institutions and policymaking in the context of current events.

We met over two Saturdays in person and conducted online discussions during the weeks in between our on-campus classes.

These University of Nebraska students were pure joy to teach – their pragmatic questions and eagerness to fully engage in class exercises made it easy to relate material to their agricultural backgrounds, academic experiences, and career ambitions.

The biggest challenge for me was to condense the top lines of a semester class into a four-week burst. It’s totally doable – in fact, we need to do much more of this in American universities across the United States to meet growing demand for information and understanding about trade policy. Let’s build the next generation of creative trade thinkers.
