The most effective government relations strategies produce outcomes that protect the bottom line while also improving government competencies.

Together we’ll develop creative approaches that reflect your corporate values and commitment to customer and society. Having engaged governments around the world both as a former government official and as a corporate representative, I’ve been in your shoes and I know you need quantifiable results, not activities.

For corporate clients, associations, and non-profits, I conduct organizational training to help teams execute government relations strategies, offering long-lasting benefits past our consulting relationship.

I specialize in helping clients understand the policy environment in the markets and communities in which their company or organization seeks to make a positive impact.

Stakeholder assessment is an important part of the process. Understanding the ecosystem of stakeholders who hold expectations of you — positively or negatively — is critical in both the development and execution of your business or development strategy.

In addition to consulting, I produce original analysis and articles for think tanks and foundations with a focus on trade and investment policy, food security, and global public health.

Most pieces are published, but other times these become internal policy papers use to brief executives, to advocate with stakeholders, or to advance and stimulate public dialogue.

Ditch the government talking points and corporate slides. Policy writing in clear, relatable terms is a strong skill I’ve developed working a variety of clients who need to make a public impact.

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to teach graduate students at Georgetown’s Master of Science in Foreign Service program for 13 years and running. But I felt there was a gap in trade education geared toward the general public – after all, trade affects most aspects of our daily lives. But trade policy feels elite, not transparent, and remote to most people.

In partnership with the Hinrich Foundation and the Center for Strategic and International Studies, I launched an educational microsite called TradeVistas to provide expert analysis in accessible language.

We have garnered a significant readership, but I’m most proud of how the site attracts engagement from thousands of young professionals.

I am also working with tech partners to build and launch a new web application to run negotiation simulations focused on skill building. It’s part of my effort to invest in the next generation of trade policy thinkers. It’s called Consensus Learning and it’s available in classrooms now.
