The American Committees on Foreign Relations (ACR) has a rich history of sponsoring foreign relations discussions–out of the Beltway–in cities including Boise, Idaho, Casper, Wyoming, Salt Lake City, Utah and Wichita, Kansas.
I firmly believe we should do more to engage interested Americans in trade policy discussions, not merely to convey information but to listen and learn from those experiencing trade policy in their daily lives, their businesses, and as it affects their communities.
For me, participating in the ACR annual conference was a two-way street – I found the audience questions informative and illuminating.
I’ve since spoken before the Wichita committee and have plans to visit more chapters to discuss current trade policy with members.
